Solo performance with musical glasses, sine tone generator and turntables
Duration circa 20min
A wine glass can be stimulated to sound by moving a moistened finger regularly around the rim in smooth circular orbits. Glasses will also sound in response to tones harmonically related to their own, due to the mechanical effect termed sympathetic resonance. 'Tuning to Spheres' contrasts these two different means of animating wine glasses, using tones played from loudspeakers, rotating turntables, and the touch of the fingers.
